The fruit and vegetable sector trade fair is an unmissable event for Marfret, which continues to develop the transport of refrigerated cargo on all its lines: pineapples from Costa Rica, avocados from Colombia, melons or mangoes from Brazil…

On the agenda are dozens of B2B meetings with importers, exporters and traders from all over the world. In the age of digitalization and digitization, fairs and exhibitions are privileged places to maintain a personalized relationship with our customers – a priority for Marfret!

IMO 2020: here we are!

Shipowners have not waited to make maritime transport less polluting: since 2008, while the commercial fleet has increased by 60% in capacity to transport 35% more goods, its carbon footprint has decreased by 20%.

The new regulation aims at further reducing air pollution by requiring the use of fuel oil with a maximum sulphur content of 0.5%, compared to 3.5% today, in all maritime areas (ECA areas retain their obligation not to exceed 0.1%). It will enter into force on 1 January 2020.

The cost of implementing this regulation will be significant and will increase the cost of freight.

For several months, Marfret’s technical services have been preparing for this deadline: all the 3.5% HFO present in the tanks of our vessels must have been consumed by 31 December. By then, each of these tanks must have been thoroughly cleaned and the fuel system of the ships adapted to manage the different specifications of the new product. We will therefore have to start well before the date to pump the new fuel oil as the tanks are ready in order to guarantee the compliance of our vessels on 1 January.

15 days to go before the delivery of 424 reefer containers to Costa Rica

The 424 reefer units, loaded in Qingdao (China), are expected to be delivered in PuertoMoin (Costa Rica) mid-August.

Every week, Marfret connects Costa Rica to Guadeloupe, Martinique and Northern Europe on its Intracar service https://www.marfret.fr/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Intracar-eng_12-07-19.pdf  and to the Mediterranean on its Medcar Line https://www.marfret.fr/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Medcar-eng_27-05-192.pdf

Marfret is happy to provide its valued Costa Rican customers with these brand new boxes for the transport of their cargo, especially pineapples, to the French West indies and European markets.
