Marfret repositions the Faraman pilot boat in French Guiana

After 16 years of serving ships entering and leaving the port of Marseille, the Faraman pilot boat is leaving the Phocaean city for sunny French Guiana following a transaction between the two pilotage stations. The Faraman was transported by road from Marseille to Le Havre. It is scheduled to be loaded in June onto the Marfret Niolon of the MPV line, which specialises in the transport of conventional and rolling units to French Guiana and the West Indies from Le Havre and Antwerp. Marfret has organised this operation from start to finish, using the expertise of its network of agents to provide a turnkey solution for its customer.

Marfret in the spotlight

Marfret and its general manager Guillaume VIDIL have been honoured with a place in the Choiseul Région Sud list of the 100 most dynamic young executives in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, home to Marfret’s head office.

The award belongs to all our teams, whether at sea or on shore. Their efforts have enabled our company to continue playing a strategic role -to become a vital link even- during the ongoing pandemic, since it is sea transport that ensures the continued supply of medical equipment and pharmaceutical goods.

New 40’HC dry containers in sight!

Marfret is expanding its container fleet with the arrival of 200 new 40’ high cube boxes. These are sought-after units at the moment, since the extra 30cm interior height in the 40’HC provides a 10 to 15% increase in load volume over a standard container.

The boxes have now left the factory in Asia and are on their way to Le Havre, Genoa and Fos-sur-Mer and will be available for their first loads at the beginning of May. This latest arrival of new containers follows on from a previously delivery at the beginning of the year, underlining Marfret’s ability to accompany their customers’ business growth.

For several years, Marfret’s logistics department has scheduled container deliveries in line with increasing freight volumes and its desire to offer clients up-to-date equipment.

As a result, the company had already increased its 40’ HC dry fleet by 10% in 2020 and invested in the purchase of 550 new reefer containers.
